Laurie Kwo Art

Last week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Laurie Kwo of Laurie Kwo Art. It was such a great experience because I got to see one of our amazing clients in a new and extremely creative light. She is quite the woman!

I always knew that Laurie was an artist because she would talk to her hairdresser and I about her work. She then showed us her work via Instagram and even brought a piece in at one point; we were in love! Let's just say, when she asked us to display some of her pieces in our salon, we were BEYOND honored! You can actually find five of her paintings in our salon. They are all for sale with the framing already done!

When talking to Laurie more about how her passion for painting began, it became extremely clear that she has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. She even used to scribble on the walls at home as a child. I feel like this is something we can all relate to, but it was actually an expression of art as opposed to acting up for Laurie. This has always been her passion, and, now that she is an adult, she is able to finally pursue it full time!

Laurie is very thankful for her husband being so supportive of her career, as he has been both mentally and financially supportive. Starting a new company requires a lot of mental and financial help, and she is so thankful for him. Laurie has also seen a lot of praise and support via Instagram from both local followers and artists worldwide loving her work! How cool is that?! She also thanks Steven Papageorge Salon for always being interested in her work and gladly showing it off. There was never a question in our minds about wanting to have her paintings in our shop. They are GORGEOUS!

What I find somehow even more beautiful than her stunning paintings though is the inspiration and fire behind them. When I asked Laurie where she gets her creativity from, she instantly said her mother. Laurie's mother was always sewing, cooking, and presenting everything with the greatest eye behind it. Laurie grew up with a mother who emphasized the importance of creativity, so Laurie continues to honor her mom through her paintings.

You can find some of these love-filled paintings at our salon located at 1721 Sherman Avenue, Evanston, IL. They are jaw dropping! You can also find some of Laurie's paintings at East End Gallery in Rosemary Beach, FL, at various home showings in the Chicagoland area, at Evanston Made's open studio on June 6th and 7th, and at the Art In The Village Art Fair in Winnetka on June 13th and 14th! You can also peep her art via her website lauriekwoart.com and her Instagram @laurie.kwo.art.
